Backhaul Extension Services (BES)

Backhaul Extension Services (BES) was withdrawn from new supply on 1 June 2011.

Support for BES products ends 31 March 2020

BES are high speed, permanently connected, point-to-point data circuits. They provide a secure link between your site and an exchange or between an exchange and another exchange (known as a Daisy Chain).

BES has been superseded by Ethernet Access Direct (EAD). All variants, including 2.5Gbps and 10Gbps have been withdrawn from new supply.

Key benefits:

  • Wide range of high bandwidth options
  • Greater circuit reliability with fibre
  • Resilience options offer affordable protection against fibre breaks and unforeseen issues
  • Fast fault fixes – remote management and diagnostics with five-hour repair timescales
  • Cost effective way to reach into local exchanges compared to a physical presence.
