FlexZones

As part of Ofcom's Business Connectivity Market Statement published June 2019, two areas were identified for deregulation. These are: the Central London Area (CLA) and the Competitive Inter-Exchange Connectivity Market (IECM).

We called these collective areas our FlexZones.

Having no pricing regulation within the geographical boundaries of these FlexZones means we're able to offer our customers more competitive deals that could include price discounts and service enhancements.

Openreach continues to monitor and assess whether any further changes are needed to our commercial offering in these areas and other competitive market areas.

Eligible circuits must meet one of the following criteria:

• Both circuit ends fall within eligible postcodes within either CLA or IECM.
• The end customer site is within an eligible postcode and is connected to a network node outside of these areas.
• In the case of a backhaul circuit, the location of the remote end of the backhaul circuit is within an eligible postcode.

EAD 1Gbps connection charge special offer

Openreach is reducing Ethernet Access Direct 1Gbps connection charges by 41%* in the following postcode defined geographic metro areas, which we're calling Gigabit Drop Zones

• The Central London Area
• Birmingham
• Glasgow
• Leeds
• Manchester
• Bristol
• Edinburgh
• Selected metro areas across the rest of the UK

The Minimum Period of any circuit that the CP elects to participate in the offer will be extended to 36 months. Should CPs cancel a circuit during this minimum period 100% of any outstanding rentals will be due.

The special offer will run from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023 and will reduce connection charges by £786*.

The special offer will be applicable to new orders for the following EAD services:

• EAD 1Gbps
• EAD Local Access 1Gbps
• EAD Extended Reach 1Gbps

The following criteria apply for an order to be eligible for the offer: 

• Eligible circuits must meet one of the following criteria:
• Both circuit ends fall within eligible postcodes within either the Central London Area (CLA) or High Network Reach (HNR) markets
• The order must be placed and accepted within the offer period of 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023
• The order must be notified to Openreach with 45 calendar days of order placement, this can be done via this link https://www.formwize.openreach.co.uk/run/survey3.cfm?idx=505d04080b0a0d0c (If you wish to submit in bulk please contact your business development manager)
• Existing rental prices continue to apply
• The offer will be fulfilled via a rebate after order completion

*Connection charges may vary slightly during the offer period in line with any changes in the ECC fixed fee component of the charge. In this case, the reduction will vary to keep the connection charge after reduction fixed.
