This briefing is to inform CPs about the launch of the GEA FTTP 1Gbps symmetric speed tier for BDUK Type C premises.
In 2024, Openreach was awarded the Project Gigabit Type C cross-regional supplier framework.Project Gigabit is the government’s flagship programme to enable hard-to-reach communities to access gigabit-capable broadband.
On 1 April 2025, we will launch a new 1Gbps symmetric FTTP speed tier (i.e. 1000Mbps downstream and 1000Mbps upstream) to further enhance our GEA-FTTP portfolio offering. This speed tier will be available to all premises built to under the BDUK Type C framework contracts only.
The FTTP Product Description has been updated to reflect the addition of this new speed tier in line with the industry process for updating ancillary documents and these terms and conditions will be effective at launch on 1 April 2025.
The 1Gbps symmetric FTTP speed tier will launch with the following prices
