Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) on Demand

Fibre to the Premises on Demand enables you to order Generic Ethernet Access over Fibre to the Premises (GEA-FTTP) in speeds up to 1Gbps for your customers who are within a Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) exchange area and are served by a FTTC enabled cabinet.

In response to a FTTP on Demand (FOD) order we will survey, plan and build the FTTP network to the individual residential or business premises.

This is a good opportunity for end customers in FTTC only areas to experience the speeds capable from FTTP.

Product availability

FoD availability at an exchange level is shown in the exchange rollout lists section, available here: Questions about fibre broadband

Availability of the product at an individual address level will vary within an exchange area and would need to be checked separately via the Openreach Dialogue Services, please refer to the Dialogue Services Product Guide and the eMLC User Guide, both available from our How-to guides section.

Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU) and Multi-Occupancy Units (MOU)

We recommend that you discuss the property type with your end customer to establish whether their premises is a multi-dwelling unit (MDU), i.e. apartment block, or multi-occupancy business unit (MOU), prior to the order being raised. Any orders received for MDUs or MOUs will be rejected.

Build Charge indicative quotation

CPs that are established for FTTP can request an indicative quotation to understand the build charge for a particular address (where FOD is available).

An excel template should be completed by the CP and submitted to Openreach via email. The 'FTTP on Demand indicative build cost quotation request form' contains full guidance around using this service and can be downloaded from the business processes link in the customer zone section at the bottom of this page.

Following receipt of the indicative build charge quotation, should a CP then wish to obtain a firm build charge, this is chargeable, and an order for FTTP on Demand will need to be raised with Openreach. We will proceed with planning and a site survey to establish a firm build charge, which will be valid for a period of 30 days. At this stage, if the CP does not want to proceed with the order, the survey and design charge will be raised.

Operational Capacity for 2020/21

We currently expect to be able to support 100 industry-wide FOD orders per calendar month.

We may need to apportion this capacity for single orders and multiple order projects to ensure that we can support CPs selling either type and we will advise further on this in due course.

When order capacity for a period exceeds our ability to supply, we will advise CPs if they are required to hold back from placing further orders.
