Voice Line Access Consultation

Important note - 28/07/08: Openreach has concluded that it will not continue to develop Voice Line Access (VLA) but notes that BT Wholesale has announced plans to develop a VLA type product which allow CPs to construct a telephone service with a distinctive service/feature wrap.

Product information

Openreach has initiated a feasibility study to explore the potential for a product which can support MPF and SMPF on the same copper pair. This product has been requested by LLU CPs and may also be appropriate as a suitable Openreach input to downstream VLA-type products.

The initial high level requirements of the Voice Line Access product is being shared with industry as part of a formal consultation which invites structured feedback relating to the scope, timing and demand.

You will have the opportunity to provide feedback on these potential design scenarios up to 27th July, when the consultation will close. To assist and focus your feedback we have also made available a Consultation Feedback Form.  Feedback should also be include a response to the VLA technical features consultation available from the Consult21 link below.

Openreach is aiming to publish feedback/responses by 10th August and publish a consultation closure document by 24th August 2007.
