Launch of Ethernet Backhaul Direct Extended reach
updated: 01/02/2010This briefing on the new Ethernet Backhaul Direct Extended Reach product is for Ethernet Communications Providers.
An Extended Reach product has been introduced into the Ethernet Backhaul Direct portfolio
Openreach is pleased to announce the launch of new Ethernet Backhaul Direct (EBD) Extended Reach on 1st March 2010.
EBD Extended Reach is being launched following feedback from industry, where customers were asking for greater geographical reach for their high capacity backhaul networks. EBD Extended Reach provides a set of optional Openreach Handover Points (OHPs) beyond those available in the standard EBD product.
EBD Extended Reach offers Ethernet Communications Providers (CPs) improved geographical reach without the need to build further point of presence (PoP) sites. The product also provides greater flexibility in terms of the OHPs at which CPs can pick up their EBD services.
EBD Extended Reach is available as a 1Gbps variant and details can be found in the Customer Handbook Information Notes (CHIN) on the EBD webpage here
The latest issues of Dataset 8 and the EBD CRF can be found on the Ethernet secure area that is accessed from the EBD webpage.
Details of the pricing for EBD Extended Reach are covered in our notification of Friday 29th January 2010, ACCN OR173, which can be viewed here and in the Ethernet pricing pages here
