Openreach

Wayleaves

What is a Wayleave?

Openreach will require a wayleave (consent in writing) to install, maintain, adjust, repair or alter Openreach plant under or over the development for the statutory purpose as defined in our Code of Practice. The only exception is where the owner is the person requiring the telephone service, in this instance any Openreach apparatus required to be installed is covered under the Customer Service Contract and no wayleave is required.

A wayleave agreement should be obtained prior to installing any Openreach apparatus on a new development, or on private land which is providing service to third parties.
