This briefing on network rearrangement is for all Communications Providers.
The purpose of this briefing is to raise awareness of potential network rearrangement options for BDUK funded County led projects. As part of Openreach's Next Generation Access (NGA) Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) programme and our ongoing operations, we have been trialling some network rearrangements including the installation of new street cabinets or Primary Cross-connection Points (PCPs) as potential solutions to provide Superfast Fibre Access on Exchange Only (EO) lines.
EO lines are direct copper connections from a local exchange to an end-user premises which are not cross-connected at a cabinet in the street. The proportion of these lines varies according to exchange area. Early indications from the trials are positive although they do require additional network investment.
As part of its portfolio, Openreach already offers a range of Network Rearrangements services which can be requested by CPs. Following commencement of the technical trials, we wish to advise interested CPs that this may be an option available to all those who are involved in proposals connected with areas for intervention under BDUK County led rural broadband programme.
Any proposals for new PCPs or re-arrangements would need to be evaluated and costed on an individual case by case basis (including feasibility, survey, plan and build). These would then be charged back to the bidding CP on a per project basis.
If you have any queries, please contact your Sales & Relationship Manager and please Note that additional Network Rearrangements information can be found at: Network Changes
