Fibre Integrated Reception System (Fibre IRS)

Our Fibre IRS enables the provision of TV over fibre. It delivers one-way broadcast digital TV/radio to premises over a dedicated fibre to the premises (FTTP) access network. It's ideal in situations where installing individual reception aerials/satellite dishes on the premises is prohibited by lease agreements, or in areas where topology restricts the availability of alternative means of reception.

Designed for FTTP Greenfield sites. Fibre IRS is currently available in Ebbsfleet Valley in Kent where Ofcom have approved its operation is in line with Openreach regulatory obligations. Additional sites will be subject to the same regulatory approval process required by Ofcom.

Key benefits:

  • High capacity digital TV/radio broadcast distribution supply from a central reception point
  • Shared fibre infrastructure, based on a multi-way split passive optical network (PON) terminating in the premises at an optical connector
  • Can cover more than 10,000 customers in excess of 10km radius of the exchange.
