Shared Metallic Path Facilities

Shared Metallic Path Facility (SMPF) enables you to offer voice services or broadband services over the copper network. This means you can provide one service, such a broadband, to your customer while another communications provider supplies broadband – hence it being “shared”.  SMPF provides a two-wire metallic transmission path between the Network Terminating Equipment at a customer’s premises and a main distribution or jumper frame at the exchange.

Key benefits:

  • Choose the connection and set-up option that suits you best. We can provide floor space, power, cooling and connectivity (internal/external tie cabling and backhauling of data from an exchange to a core network).
  • Cater for premises that haven’t had a fixed-line before, including homes, payphones sites, roadside locations, traffic control and mobile phone transmitter sites.
  • We can provide MPF at high-voltage risk sites, such as electricity company power stations and other operational buildings.
  • Provide services in hot zones beyond power station perimeters.
